Dani Duric-Petrovic

Feltmaker & Textile Artist
I have always liked working with my hands and have always had a fascination for all things textile. I started making clothes for myself (and for my dolls and Teddies!) at around the age of 10 and since then have turned my hand at making home furnishings, clothing, accessories and even my own wedding dress. In September 2002, I started a year long Experimental textiles course with Kim Thittichai, at the Connaught Centre in Hove and 3 years later I finally came up for air! Now that the course is over, a few of us who couldn’t bear to leave it at that, have joined together to form a textile art group – ‘Threads’.

I predominately work with wool fibre to make hand felt. I have used other techniques and mediums, but I always seem to be drawn back to felt. Feltmaking if fascinating – the more felt I create and the more I find out about its versatility, the more fascinated I become. I love going through the process of feltmaking, experimenting and not knowing exactly how the end product will turn out. Felt is a unique fabric. With the right mixture of wool, moisture, soap heat and friction an amazing fabric is created which is hard wearing, warm and beautiful. It can be made to be fine and delicate or dense and thick. It can be left natural or dyed every colour imaginable.

These are just a few examples of my work. See more on the exhibition pages.
Of course it would be impossible to fit images of everything I’ve created on this page, so please feel free to contact me if you would like to see more and I can E-mail more images to you. I have made handbags, scarves, corsages, throws, cushion covers, wall art, vessels book covers, doggy coats etc. etc.
